Multicolored Phosphors

The "Christmas library" of multicolored phosphors. Ultraviolet light has been shone on an array of 25,000 different phosphors made by Symyx scientists. The array is made by combinatorial chemistry using non-organic elements. Those phosphors that have similar molecular compositions, and therefore similar colors, are grouped together. Phosphors discovered in such arrays can be used in computer screens or in lighting.
