Structure of a Cytoskeleton

The actin in these cells is stained red. It attaches through connection points called focal contacts (yellow-green spots) to sticky proteins outside the cell, thus anchoring the cell. The DNA, in the nucleus, is stained blue. Figure courtesy of Eduardo Almeida.
